Our Rector, Prof. Dr. Nihat Şındak, met with our
city's local and national press representatives at our university guest house.
Under the presidency of Our Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat
Şındak, the attendees to the meeting; Our Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Cemalettin
Erdemci, Prof. Dr. Ömer Şahin, Prof. Dr. Tekin Şahin, our Secretary-General
Abdulkadir Işık, our Deputy Secretary-General Ö. Fethi Çelepçıkay, Press and
Public Relations Manager Dr. Lecturer Mahir Özhan, local and national press
representatives discussed about 2021 projects and investment plans of our
university.
Our Rector Prof. Dr. Nihat Şındak, made the following
statements at the meeting:
"At our university, we no longer want to be proud
of only quality, but also
quantity."
Our university, which continued its educational
activities with distance education during the pandemic process, turned into a
garden without a smile when it did not have a student. As you know, the
university's only mission is not to raise qualified students. Supporting
regional development, strengthening public-industry cooperation, and participating
in research and development projects are also among the university's primary
duties. At our university, we want to be proud of both quality and quantity.
We tried to evaluate how we can turn this period into
an advantage. We have completed the infrastructure works planned in our
campuses and the necessary repairs in our buildings. To make our university
more attractive and appealing to our students, we implemented our bicycle path
and observation terrace projects.
As you know, with the protocol made, our Faculty of
Medicine students study at Van Yüzüncü Yıl University. To get our students to
our campus as soon as possible, we are trying to strengthen our academic staff
and complete the necessary work to construct the morphology building, where
they will continue their education. With the approval of the Ministry, in
addition to the Faculty of Medicine Morphology Building in our Kezer Campus, we
are at the stage of laying the foundations of the Faculty of Health Sciences
and Health Services Vocational School buildings and the Social and Technical
Sciences Vocational School building in our central campus.
Our Animal Hospital and Ovine Semen Filling Unit
Facilities projects will be completed and ready for use by the end of 2021. In
addition to supporting regional development with these projects, we aim to add
value to our country in the international arena in the future. In particular,
we aim that our new animal hospital, when it becomes operational, has advanced
technological equipment that can meet the region's needs.
In 2020, as a university specializing in agriculture
and animal husbandry within the scope of the Regional Development Focused
Mission Differentiation and Specialization Program; We encouraged our academics
to produce projects with our specialization budget of 3,000,000 Turkish lira.
In this way, we have created serious projects in 6 different areas, especially
pistachio in agriculture and goats in livestock. I should especially mention
that we are excited to realize these projects.
"We are one of the universities that spent a year
without any problems in the education process with our distance education
system."
Due to the pandemic; Our academicians and students
experienced some problems during the distance education process due to system
breakdowns and technical infrastructure inadequacies. Many institutions in our
country, especially the Ministry of National Education and well-established
universities, experienced difficulties in the distance education process. Since
we are a pilot university in the YÖK Digital Transformation Project, we have
already completed our technical studies in the distance education system.
During the pandemic period, the university lectures were given in synchronous
and asynchronous with the distance education model, and we managed to pass the
process with minimum problems. In this sense, I would like to thank our staff
working at Siirt University Distance Education Center.
We sustain to increase the quality of education.
Seeing our graduate students as competent people in society is a source of
pride for us. We had a very different year with the distance education system.
It has been a challenging year for both our students and academics. With the
start of the vaccination process, with Allah's permission, we will overcome
these difficult times, and our classes will be filled with our students again.
The meeting ended with a group photoshoot after the
question and answer session.
